One woman is dead and four others were injured in a crash involving an ambulance that occurred in Meade County on KY 313 and KY 333. According to Kentucky State Police, a 2008 Pontiac driven by Sarah Hottell was traveling eastbound on KY 333 and approaching the intersection with KY 313. Hottell failed to stop at the stop sign and an ambulance driven by Todd Flory collided with the front driver’s side of Hottell’s vehicle. The collision caused the ambulance to leave the roadway and overturn on the southbound side of the intersection ejecting both Flory and another EMT Michael Wise. Hottell’s vehicle also left the roadway and came to a stop in a nearby ditch. A Volkswagen driven by Maria Williams was also struck during the collision.
Hottell was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 10-month old infant was also in the car and transported to Kosair Children’s Hospital with minor non-life threatening injuries. Flory and Wise were taken to the University of Louisville Hospital with major injuries. Williams was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital with minor injuries and was treated and released later that day.
We use our blog as a forum to educate the public using real life events. However, we are very sensitive to the fact that these real life events have resulted in a tragedy that will inflict great pain and sorrow on those involved and those close to the victim(s). As such, we understand that they may not approve, and we will immediately remove a post if a victim or their loved ones makes that request.
