Eight Injured in Wreck with Semi

A wreck between a van and a tractor-trailer injured eight people around 6:30 p.m. Saturday evening. The wreck occurred on South I-65 in Jackson County, Indiana.
According to local authorities, a Dodge Caravan was southbound on I-65 when a large tire came across the median and struck the windshield of the van. Freimiller lost control of the van, entered the median, and launched over the barrier into the northbound lanes where she was struck by a semi.
One passenger, Frances Wilkey, was flown to UofL Hospital with serious injuries after being trapped in the van. Another passenger, Jessica Evans, suffered a serious head injury and four other passengers in the van also suffered injuries.
Local police searched the area for the vehicle which lost the tire. At this time, it is thought that the tire came off of a trailer of a large vehicle.
