Wreck At Dangerous Intersection Injures Four
Four people were injured in a Saturday afternoon crash in the 6000 block of West pages Lane in PRP. They were taken to U of L hospital.
Police are reporting that a silver Chevy sedan ran a stop sign on Devonshire Drive and was hit by a GMC Sierra pickup causing the Chevy to run up in a yard, hit a car parked in the drive way and almost hit the home.
One person in the pick-up and 3 people in the Chevy were transported to University Hospital.
Neighbors told local news stations that the intersection is dangerous, and people are known to speed through it.
In April 2011, at the exact same intersection, a 77-year-old man died and another person was injured after police said he ran a stop sign before striking another car.
Neighbors also said signs reading "cross traffic does not stop" were installed at a pair of stop signs at the intersection years ago, but that it just isn't enough to stop wrecks.
Perhaps it will take a lawsuit against Metro Public Works to bring the traffic control devices that are so obviously needed at this intersection. The families of the victims should seek advice from an experienced attorney and explore all options for recovery, including an action against city officials who have apparently ignored this dangerous intersection for far too long.
