Woman Killed In Pike County Crash
Forty-five year old Debra Hampton of Pike County was killed Thursday in a wreck on U.S. 460 in the Millard area
Police are reporting that Michael Lawson, 43, of Pikeville, was driving west when he ran off the road in his Ford pickup truck, veered into the eastbound lane, and hit a Chevy pickup driven by Gregory Ratliff, 21, of Powells Creek. Hampton was a passenger in Ratliff's truck.
Lawson and Ratliff were injured. Hampton was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is likely that the state police are in the midst of an accident reconstruction. Both Hampton's family and Ratliff may have civil claims against Lawson for negligence and, in Hampton's case, wrongful death. An experienced attorney will hire his or her own accident reconstruction expert to ensure that the families get all the answers they need about what happened and that the claims are thoroughly investigated.
