32 year old Mikey Ward of Lawrencburg, Kentucky sustained fatal injuries stemming from a head-on car wreck near Frankfort, Kentucky on Friday night. Kara Kistner (30) and passenger Angela Fitzgeral (21), both from Owenton, Kentucky, were in the other vehicle and sustained serious injuries that left them both in critical condition.
According to media reports, Mr. Ward was driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse southbound on U.S. 127 when the vehicle crossed over into the northbound lane and collided with the Toyota Corolla driven by Ms. Kistner. It happened at 8:09 p.m.
There is no information available as to why the Eclipse crossed the center line. The obvious conclusion that most will jump to is driver error and maybe it was. However, as I always say, the investigation into this matter should search for any potential causes, such as a defect in the vehicle or one its components (e.g. a defective tire that blew), or a recent maintenance, repair or servicing of the vehicle.
The victims and their families and friends deserve such an investigation. Attorneys experienced in handling these types of cases can assure that a full investigation is performed and that evidence and testimony is preserved.
We use our blog as a forum to educate the public using real life events. However, we are very sensitive to the fact that these real life events have resulted in a tragedy that will inflict great pain and sorrow on those involved and those close to the victim(s). As such, we understand that they may not approve, and we will immediately remove a post if a victim or their loved ones makes that request.
