Washington County, KY Car Accident Kills One, Injures Four Others

A tragic cross-over car accident in Washington County, Kentucky has claimed the life of one man and resulted in serious injuries to a mother and her three children.

Kentucky State Police in Washington County are investigating a fatal head-on collision that occurred about two miles south of Springfield on KY 55. According to police, the wreck was caused when a 1999 Toyota traveling north on KY 55, driven by 71 year old Bobby Perry of Springfield, crossed over the center line. The Toyota struck head-on a 2008 Honda being driven by 50 year old Setsuko Obata of Lebanon.

Mr. Perry was pronounced deceased at the scene. Ms. Obata was stat-flighted from the scene of the wreck to University of Louisville Hospital. Three child passengers in Ms. Obata's car, 16 year old Sara Obata 14 year old Noel Obata and 12 year old Louis Obata were also injured. Sara and Noel were flown to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, and Louis was taken by Washington County EMS to Spring View Hospital and later transferred to Kosair.

According to Police, all involved were wearing their seatbelts.
