Steak Product Recalled Due To Undeclared Allergens In Marinade
Malcolm Meats, a Northwood, Ohio, establishment is recalling approximately 4,530 pounds of various marinated beef products because of misbranding and undeclared allergens. The products in question apparently contain some amounts of wheat and soy, which are not declared on the label. These tow ingredients are common allergens that cause severe reactions when ingested by certain people. The products which are being recalled are mostly 8, 10 or 12 ounce steak sirloin packages.
The company was the first to uncover the misbranding during a routine label audit; it is being claimed that the allergens are actually part of the marinade that the meat products are packaged in. Thus far, and fortunately for consumers, there have been no reports of any complications arising form the ingestion of the products referenced in this post.
