Mount Washington Man Dies In Tragic Crossover Wreck
William Hardesty, 57, of Mount Washington was tragically killed this afternoon when his F-150 truck was struck head-on by a Chrysler 300 driven by a 17 year-old boy. The wreck happened at around 2:00 p.m. near the intersection of Preston Hwy and John Harper Hwy in Northern Bullitt County.
Mr. Hardesty was airlifted to University Hospital, but passed away shortly after the wreck. The teenager was transported via EMS to University Hospital with several injuries, but his condition was unknown as of the time of this post.
Police are still investigating how and why the wreck happened and are waiting on the results of toxicology tests to determine if alcohol or drugs could have been a factor in the wreck.
Vanessa Cantley, partner with Bahe Cook Cantley & Nefzger PLC, has unfortunately represented many victims of crossover wrecks. She comments: "Crossover wrecks happen for a number of reasons. I have seen crossover wrecks occur because a driver looked down at his cellphone for a brief moment, was checking a text message, and even changing the station on the radio. Mr. Hardesty's family deserves answers about why this wreck happened and what the boy was doing at the time. While police are often thorough, many times they don't subpoena cell phone records. If I were investigating this wreck, that would be the first thing I would uncover. My heart goes out to Mr. Hardesty's family, and I hope they get the justice they deserve."
