Winchester, Kentucky (Clark County) Motorcycle Accident Results In Fatality
58 year-old Robert Destefano of Lexington sustained fatal injuries when a car turned in front of him causing a crash with the motorcycle he was riding. From reports, it appears that the car failed to yield the right of way and was making a left turn into the Sky-Vue drive-in theater on U.S. 60 between Winchester and Lexington.
Unfortunately, this set of facts is all too familiar. I have handled many motorcycle accident cases resulting in the death of, or serious injury to, the rider when an oncoming motorist failed to yield the right of way and turned in front of them. Even the best motorcyclist in the world simply cannot control the negligence of others. I do not personally ride motorcycles, but they are legal and just as entitled to the road as any other vehicle. It is imperative that all drivers pay close attention, so that these types of tragedies can be avoided.
Hopefully, the family and friends of Mr. Destefano can get the answers to the questions they must be asking right now about how and why this could happen. And hopefully, the responsible party has sufficient insurance coverage to pay for the harms and losses he/she has caused.
