Fatal Wreck on 1295 In Madison County
Kentucky State Police are investigating a wreck on Ky 1295 in Madison County that happened on Wednesday, April 20 just after 4:00 p.m. Brandon D. Gross, 18 of Richmond was reportedly traveling east on Ky 1295, when his 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo partially left the roadway. Mr. Gross apparently overcorrected and traveled into the westbound lane, striking a 1992 Ford Mustang driven by Garland W. Adams, 61 of Stanford. Mr. Adams was flown to UK Medical Center where he later died. Mr. Gross was taken to Pattie A. Clay Hospital in Richmond and treated for injuries to his face, shoulder, and ankle.
The wreck is under investigation. While it appears liability on the part of Mr. Gross is clear, it still may be important for Mr. Adams' family to obtain an independent accident reconstruction to learn exactly what happened and why. Mr. Adams' family will be entitled to seek damages for his wrongful death, not only from Mr. Gross, but also from their own insurance carrier. There are many rules that must be followed about placing carriers on notice of potential claims, and many are not aware of the potential for stacking policies of insurance that make an attorney's help crucial when such tragedies befall us.
