Louisville, Kentucky Woman Dies In Car Crash On I-65 In Indianapolis

Michelle L. Adams, 23, of Louisville sustained fatal injuries when the Honda Accord she was driving struck a semi-tractor trailer on northbound Interstate 65 (I-65) in Indianapolis. According to the Indiana State Police, who are investigating the accident, the roadway was snow covered when the accident occurred and the Accord spun into the path of the truck when attempting to pass it. A passenger in the car, Julia Ann Howard, also 23, and from St. Petersburg, Florida, sustained injuries, but they were not life-threatening. The driver of the truck was not injured.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of Ms. Adams as they deal with this tragedy. We also hope that Ms. Howard makes a speedy and full recovery.

It is unclear what caused Ms. Adams to lose control of the vehicle and whether an investigation continues. This and many other questions must be answered and the facts must be sorted out. Was is due to driver error on Ms. Adams' part? Was is due to driver error on the truck driver's part? Is there some other factor other than driver error at play? Was Ms. Adams wearing her seat belt, and did it malfunction?

In order to answer these questions, it is imperative that a full and complete investigation take place and all evidence is preserved. While the police typically do a good job of investigating accidents and determining cause, it is often in the best interest of an accident victim, or a surviving family member, to conduct their own investigation. Hiring an attorney who is experienced in handling car and truck accident cases will know what to do in order to protect the victim's rights.
