Kentucky and Louisville Car and Truck Crash Statistics for 2010
I am going to try and make this an annual thing. Here is the post for 2009 for comparison's sake.
According to Kentucky State Police data, a total of 147,507 motor vehicle crashes occurred statewide in 2010. 25,676 of those wrecks resulted in someone injured or killed. A total of 748 people were killed and another 37,255 injured as a result of these accidents. Although the total number of collisions (147,353) was up from 2009, the number of collisions with injuries (25,811), total injuries (38,234) and fatalities (796) were all down.
Jefferson County accounted for 29,384 (19.9%) of the total accidents in 2010. 5,122 (19.9% of the state total) resulted in at least one injury. 73 (9.8% of the state total) total fatalities and 7,722 (20.7% of the state total) total injuries resulted from the Jefferson County wrecks. The total number of wrecks (28,725), those with injuries (4,954) and the total number of deaths (57) went up from 2009, while the total number of injuries (7,415) went down. The number of fatalities rose sharply (28%), but were still lower than the 78 fatalities in 2008.
