John A. Bahe, Jr. and David Mushlin Represent Plaintiffs In Suit Against Former Detective Crystal Marlowe
John A. Bahe, Jr. and David Mushlin of Bahe Cook Cantley & Nefzger, PLC represent the plaintiffs that have filed suit against former Louisville Metro Police detective Crystal Marlowe. Over the course of time many people have come forward to inquire about the nature of how their criminal cases were handled; cases involving Ms. Marlowe, generally as the lead detective. Ms. Marlow was terminated by the LMPD last week after Chief Robert White concluded that her “blatant disregard” for rules had discredited the department and led to five people being charged with crimes they didn't commit.
An internal investigation found Marlowe violated police department procedures 68 times, mostly involving the misuse of photographs intended to help witnesses identify suspects.
In four cases, White concluded that Marlowe arrested people for crimes they couldn't have committed because they were already in custody at the time the crimes occurred.
“Your actions have brought great discredit upon our department,” White wrote in a detailed, nine-page letter to Marlowe. “Your conduct has damaged the image of our department which we have established with our community.”
Ms. Marlowe said, through her attorney, that White's decision was “unjustified and unwarranted” and that she intends to file an appeal with the Police Merit Board.
