Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky Crash Claims Life Of Georgia Teenager

Kendra Stefanko of Dallas, Georgia received a fatal closed head injury in a wreck on I-75 in Fayette County, Kentucky yesterday morning. The Lexington, Kentucky police are investigating the accident and stated that the Pontiac Grand Am, which was being driven by George Brown, left the right side of the roadway and eventually struck a tree on the passenger's side.

In addition to Ms. Stefanko and Mr. Brown, an infant was in the back seat. The infant and Mr. Brown sustained non-life-threatening injuries. We send out our sympathies and condolences to the friends and family of Ms. Stefanko and hope for the speedy recovery of the injured.

The police stated that the cause of the car leaving the roadway is still under investigation. Speed, alcohol, drugs or road conditions do not appear to be factors.

Although the police are conducting their investigation, many times it is important for someone involved in this type of crash, or a surviving friend or family member, to conduct their own investigation. Oftentimes, factors other than driver error can be overlooked as causes, such as a defect in the vehicle. It is also very important to make sure that all evidence is preserved, so that all of these questions can be answered. Attorneys who handle car and truck crash cases know what to do to make sure these things happen and that a victims interests and rights are being protected. This crash appears to be one that needs a full and complete investigation.

Whatever the results of the investigation end up being, the driver of the vehicle, if it is determined his actions were the sole cause, would be legally responsible to the passenger for Ms. Stefanko's death and the infant's injuries. The family of the Ms. Stefanko and the infant would be able to make a claim under insurance policies covering the driver's fault and possibly other policies, if the insurance coverage under the driver's policies is inadequate.
