Four Killed In Clinton County Crash

Four people, including a 7-year-old girl and her parents, were killed in a head-on wreck Friday afternoon in Clinton County. Kentucky State Police are reporting they believe alcohol is a factor in the collision.

A red 2000 Chevy truck driven by Ricky Brinkley, 54, of Bowling Green, was traveling eastbound on Ky. 90 about 3:40 p.m. CST when it attempted to pass another eastbound vehicle and struck a westbound 1999 Plymouth van head on, police said. Brinkley was pronounced dead at Clinton County Hospital.

The van was driven by David Moreland, 36, of Albany who was pronounced dead at the scene. Van passenger Amanda Moreland, 25, was also pronounced dead at the scene. One of their daughters, McKenzie Moreland, 7, was pronounced dead at Clinton County Hospital, police said, and another, Haylee Moreland, 5, was in serious condition at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, a hospital spokesperson said Saturday evening.

Our hearts go out to the Morelands' family and loved ones, and our prayers are with Haylee Moreland for a full recovery. While Brinkley's death is tragic, if police reports of how the collision occurred are correct, Brinkley's estate must be held accountable by the civil justice system and Haylee Moreland and the Morelands' estates must be fully compensated for their damage and loss.
