***Update*** Indiana Crash Results In Serious Injuries And Fatalities

In an update to a previous post, it seems that the Indiana State Police (ISP), the investigating police department, who previously said the reason why Mr. Looney crossed the centerline may never be know, look to have found some answers. They now attribute it to "aggressive driving."

More specifically, the ISP say that Mr. Looney had just finished passing two vehicles in a no passing zone as he was cresting a hill that obstructed his view of vehicles coming toward him in the opposite direction. As he re-entered his lane of travel, Mr. Looney's vehicle's passenger side wheels went off the road. Then, he overcompensated, began skidding and shot across the opposite lane of travel and into the path of oncoming traffic, which was led by the Phelps vehicle.

Despite Mr. Phelps efforts to avoid the collision, the vehicle he was driving crashed into the passenger side of the Looney vehicle. Again, our sympathies and condolences go out to the friends and family of those killed and injured in this tragic incident.
