Louisville, Kentucky Single-Vehicle Crashes Raise Questions

Two single vehicle wrecks, one in a car and one in a van, serve to illustrate about the difficulty in determining the cause of such crashes. Late Sunday night, Lucio Carrillo suffered fatal injuries when his van left the roadway flipping over a guardrail and down an embankment on the Watterson Expressway. The investigating police agency is unsure of the reason Mr. Carrillo lost control of the van. Our sympathies and condolences go out to the friends and family of Mr. Carrillo as they deal with grieving process for this unparalleled loss

On Thursday, a Louisville man apparently lost control of his Buick LaSabre on 29th Street and struck a utility pole. The car came to rest on its side, and the man had to be taken to the hospital for care. No indication was given as to why the driver lost control.

Although the police are conducting an investigation to determine the cause, and they typically good job, it is often important for someone involved in this type of accident, or a surviving family member or friend, to do their own investigation. Usually, everyone's first thought in these types of accidents is driver error. Many times a thorough investigation will reveal causes other than driver error and responsibility of other parties. Perhaps the vehicles recently underwent repair or maintenance, and something took place then that cause the accidents. Or, maybe the vehicles were defectively manufactured.

Hiring a lawyer experienced in handling car wrecks can assure a victim of such a wreck, or the family, that their interests and rights are being protected. A lawyer experienced in handling car and truck wrecks will know what to do to uncover any underlying causes that do not appear on the surface and may go unrecognized in other investigations. These crashes are a good example of when it may be difficult to determine the cause of a wreck and a full, complete and thorough investigation is necessary.
