Columbia, KY (Adair County) Head-On Collision Kills One, Injures Another
A head-on car wreck in Columbia, Kentucky has ended, like so many head-on collisions, in tragedy. Melanie Mattingly, 24 years old, of Springfield, Kentucky, was killed when another vehicle crossed into her lane and struck her car head on.
According to police, Ms. Mattingly was driving a 2000 Buick sedan, traveling northbound on KY 55. A 2002 Ford Van being driven southbound on KY 55 by Marion T. Greathouse, 41, of New Haven, Kentucky. For reasons unknown at this time, Ms. Greathouse crossed the centerline and struck Ms. Mattingly's car head-on.
Ms. Mattingly was pronounced dead at the accident scene as a result of injuries suffered in the wreck. Mr. Greathouse was transported to Springview Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Whenever there is a center-line crossover wreck, it's usually the result of inattentiveness or other negligence on the part of the driver of that vehicle.
