JC Penney's Cribs Are Recalled
Jardine Enterprises Ltd., of Taipei, Taiwan in a cooperative effort with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission have revealed that, a voluntary recall of the “Alexander Designs” drop-side cribs has gone into effect. For all interested parties, consumers are now forewarned that they should stop using this products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
The main distributor of the above-referenced crib is J.C. Penney. The apparent issue that has caused the recall is that the crib’s rail can break or fail, allowing the drop side to detach from the crib. If this were to occur a potentially dangerous gap is created between the drop-side rail and the crib mattress in which infants and toddlers can become wedged. In addition, children can fall out of the crib when the drop-side rail falls unexpectedly or detaches from the crib.
The CPSC has already received two reports of incidents involving problems with the Alexander Designs drop-side cribs. This recall involves full-size cribs sold under the Alexander Designs brand name. "Alexander Designs Ltd." and the JC Penney catalog/item number are printed on a label on the crib's headboard.
