America's Aging Population and Nursing Home Abuse

As America’s Baby Boomer generation continues to age, the United States is seeing more and more senior citizens living in nursing homes. Unfortunately, with this increase in nursing home residents has also come an increase in the abuse and neglect of elderly residents. Currently, 1.5 million elderly Americans reside in nursing homes – nursing homes owned and operated by large corporations.

Nursing homes and insurance companies often choose to put profits ahead of elderly residents’ well-being and the corporate structure of many of these nursing homes makes it difficult to get answers when a family member has been neglected or abused.
