*Update* Fosamax Lawyer: Fosamax Linked To Femur Fractures In Women

In previous posts here on www.kentuckyinjurylawyerblog.com, we have explored the possibility that Fosamax (alendronate) may be responsible for causing spontaneous fractures of thigh bones in women. Now, some new information has come to light suggesting that this is true.

An expert panel from the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research task force reviewed all of the evidence and concluded that a link exists between the use of bisphosphonate drugs, such as Fosamax, and these unusual femur fractures. In fact, the panel found that 94% of people who sustained these breaks had been on a bisphosphonate for an extended period of time. The panel recommended in a report to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that doctors and patients be warned through label changes and implementation of a reporting system.

In addition to Fosamax, bisphosphonates include Actonel and Boniva. The manufacturers and marketers involved include Sanofi Aventis, Warner Chilcott, Roche, GlaxoSmithKline and Merck.

Fosamax is already the subject of numerous lawsuits and litigation regarding an osteonecrosis of the jaw side effect. A jury recently found that Fosamax causes this side effect.

Dangerous and defective drugs are responsible for many injuries and deaths nationwide. Our profession calls this area of law products liability. Consulting an attorney experienced in handling these matters is usually easy. Most lawyers will provide a complimentary initial consultation to evaluate a claim or case and let the person know if they can help.
