Nursing Home Abuse Attorney: 8 Nursing Home Caregivers Charged With Abusing Residents

Eight former caregivers of mentally disabled residents at facilities in Somerset and Richmond Kentucky have been charged or indicted for allegedly abusing nursing home residents.

Abusing residents of nursing homes, sexually assaulting residents of nursing homes, and not rendering proper care to residents of nursing homes is a crime and is punishable both criminally and civilly.

Nursing Home Abuse Attorney Brent T. Ackerson stated: “people in nursing homes are some of the most vulnerable victims of neglect and abuse because much of the time they are unable to protect themselves or even express what has happened to them.” Cases of abuse and even negligent care can go on for extended periods of time until the evidence of such comes to light. Negligence can even be not caring properly for residents which can lead to injures, bead sores, or malnourishment.

If you have a loved one or friend in a nursing home and you suspect that they are either being abused or not receiving the care they deserve, you should report your suspicions immediately. The failure to report suspected problems is what allows the incidents to go on for extended periods of time. We owe it to those who cannot defend themselves to stand up for them and protect them. Family members of those abused or neglected can bring civil lawsuits against the facilities and offenders for neglect, injuries, and even death of nursing home residents.
