Safety Hazards Force Chrysler to Recall 600,000 Vehicles
Chrysler has issued a recall for almost 600,000 vehicles due to various safety concerns. The recall covers 2008-2009 Chysler Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravans, 2007-2010 Jeep Wranglers, and 2007 Dodge Caliber and Jeep Compass vehicles, Reuters reports.
The minivans could develop a problem in the electrical system for the sliding door latches. The problem could lead to fires. The Wranglers leak brake fluid, which could cause brake failure. The Calibers and Compasses could have sticky accelerator pedals, a problem not too dissimilar than that faced by many Toyota owners.
Chrysler is notifying those affected by the recall this month and will fix the vehicles free of charge. If you or someone you know has been injured because of these defects, fixing the vehicle likely will not fully compensate you for your injuries. The attorneys at Bahe Cook Cantley & Jones represent individuals injured from defective products such as unsafe automobiles.
Shawn Cantley [profile], a local products liability attorney and one of the firm's partners, noted that it is a tragedy that problems such as these often go unnoticed until it is too late. To those that might have been injured by the problems, he offered the following advice, "consider contacting an experienced attorney immediately, they can help prevent the destruction of evidence and protect your rights."
