Kiana Cox Dies After being Found In Swimming Pool
On Memorial Day Kiana Cox was found unconscious in a swimming pool. On Wednesday she died at a Cincinnati Hospital. Ms. Cox was 12 years old. She had been swimming with other children in a private pool in Alexandria, KY Monday night when others in attendance at the residence found her floating face down in the pool. The pool was owned by neighbors of Ms. Cox’s aunt and uncle. CPR was performed at the scene, however Ms. Cox passed away two days later while still in hospital.
Swimming pools are extremely dangerous and children should not be allowed to swim without adult supervision. The cause of Ms. Cox becoming unconscious while swimming is still unknown, and it is not known whether other causes, such as a failure to properly supervise the swimming pool, are factors to be considered in Ms. Cox’s death. This is a tragedy when a young person dies, and if it were preventable then there may be a wrongful death lawsuit against those potentially at fault, including the homeowners.
