Toyota Acceleration Problems Lead to Drop In Sales, Camry No Longer Top Selling Car
A large portion of the 320 lawsuits filed over the Toyota acceleration problems are by individuals claiming that Toyota's recent mechanical troubles diminished the resale value of their vehicles. If recent Toyota sales are any indicator, they may be right.
The Lexington-Herald Leaders reports that the Toyota Camry, the top selling U.S. car for 12 of the last 13 years, may have to surrender that accolade to the Honda Accord.
Evidence of diminished value can be shown by more than changes in Kelley Blue Book value. Whether or not it is used at trial, a slow-down in new Toyota sales supports owners’ claims regarding their ability to sell their vehicles.
