Speeding Car Causes Accident
A vehicle driven by Jacob Salley, age 19, of Perryville, lost control and was involved in an accident after a north bound vehicle on Parksville Crosspike (Boyle Co., KY) hit the crest of a hill at a high rate of speed. Salley, reacting to the other vehicle, hit his brakes and lost control of his 1996 Nissan, left the road, and struck a telephone pole. Reports claim that there were 94 feet of skid marks on the road. Salley, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was airlifted to University of Kentucky Hospital with multiple injuries. Jessica Hill, age 16, who was a passenger in Salley’s vehicle and wearing her seatbelt, was not seriously injured.
Many questions exist as to who is at fault for this accident, and this may likely become a situation of shared fault, whereby Salley will still be likely to seek a legal recovery for his injuries. Under Kentucky’s comparative fault laws, even a person who bears the majority of fault for an accident can still recovery for their injuries from others who bear 1% or more fault in the accident.
