New Government Report Links 89 Deaths to Toyota Acceleration Problems

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that sudden acceleration problems stemming from defective Toyota vehicles could have been responsible for as many as 89 deaths over the last decade.

Previously only 52 deaths had been suspected, the Associated Press report. If the new numbers regarding deaths and injuries are accurate, many more people could have been hurt by Toyota's defective products than previously thought.

The people hurt and the families of those killed by Toyota defects have a right to be compensated for their injuries. These new figures could result in new lawsuits against Toyota. They could also strengthen the lawsuits already filed.

Since the fall, Toyota has recalled more than nine million vehicles due to these problems.
