Attorneys Larry Jones and Jasper Ward File Class Action Against BP Oil for Oil Spill's Effect on Property Rentals and Property Values

Bahe Cook Cantley & Jones attorneys Larry Jones and Jasper Ward filed the first Kentucky lawsuit against BP Oil and the others responsible for the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Kentucky residents who have been impacted by the effects of the oil spill. These individuals own property in areas along the Gulf Coast and are seeing rental cancellations, non-rentals, and diminished property values.

Larry Jones and Jasper Ward are currently assembled in Florida with lawyers from around the country who are meeting to trade information that is being uncovered about the spill. It is now becoming apparent that the oil spilled was caused in large part due to BP's desire to cut corners during the drilling process because they were running behind schedule. Moreover, as the days pass, it is becoming clear that BP is misrepresenting the amount of oil that has flowed into the Gulf --and continues to flow into the Gulf. To make matters worse, BP's clean-up efforts have involved using an extremely toxic "dispersant" which will devastate the marine wildlife in the area.

The environmental impact of this oil spill will not soon be forgotten. And the economic impact will have far-reaching consequences to those outside the Gulf region, including property owners with rentals in the area, tourists who are forced to cancel their trips, businesses who rely upon seafood from the Gulf, and others.
