Toyota Recall Attorney: NHTSA Poised To Levy $16 Million Fine Of Toyota

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) said that it intends to fine Toyota for failing to disclose the sudden unintended acceleration (SUA) problem that is now the subject of a massive recall. The $16.4 million fine against Toyota, which is the maximum allowable under the law, would be the largest ever.

Government officials used very strong language accusing Toyota of knowingly concealing a dangerous defect for months. Evidence suggests that Toyota deliberately hid safety information from federal regulators.
