TARC Bus Injures 6 People In Accident
A collision between a TARC Bus and a car sent 6 people to the Hospital with minor injuries Monday. The accident happened around 3:30 in the afternoon at the intersection of West Muhammad Ali Blvd and Dr. W J Hodge Street. The injured persons were the driver of the bus and passengers on the bus.
When a person is injured while riding a TARC bus, that persons medical bills are to be initially paid by reporting the accident and the injuries to (i) the injured party’s own automobile insurance carrier, or (ii) if the injured party does not have automobile insurance, but lives with a person who does have automobile insurance, then to the automobile insurance provider for the other household member, or (iii) if the injured party does not have automobile insurance nor lives with anyone who has automobile insurance, then the injured party can make a claim with the Kentucky Assigned Claims Plan. However, if the injured party has no automobile coverage of their own and does not reside with anyone else who has automobile insurance coverage, and is a recipient of Medicare, Medicaid, and/or Passport, then that person will not qualify under the Kentucky Assigned Claims Plan. Under such a scenario, the injured party must seek treatment and utilize their Medicare, Medicaid, and/or Passport healthcare for treatment. Medicare, Medicaid, and Passport, will all have a lien against any recovery.
Persons who are injured while riding a TARC Bus, no matter who covers their medical bills, still have a right to seek legal action and a recovery from TARC for the accident and the injuries.
