Lexus SUV's And Toyota Sienna Minivan Added To The Recall List

600,000 Toyota Sienna minivans are being recalled the vehicle manufacturer announced last week. The Sienna are being recalled in the United States to address rusting spare tire cables that could break and create a road hazard. The popular Sienna is marketed primarily as a family vehicle, and this latest recall is yet another step in the wrong direction for a company what was beloved for decades.

This latest recall adds to the woes of the Japanese automaker, which has recalled an amazing 8 million vehicles world-wide due to a myriad of problems including, but not limited to faulty accelerator pedals which basically started the slide Toyota has experienced.
Toyota also said last week that its engineers had managed to duplicate the results of tests that led Consumer Reports to give a very rare "don't buy" warning in regard to the 2010 Lexus GX 460. The car manufaturer’s luxury brand had been largely unscathed in the last few month’s backslide of the Toyota brand, however, this most recent halting of SUV sales brings the Lexus brand squarely into the public’s eye. Toyota responded by halting sales of new GX 460s and conducting tests on all of its SUVs.

Lexus spokesman Bill Kwong said the company was evaluating potential remedies for the GX 460 but it was "too early to speculate (on) the details of the remedy and its timing."
