New Progam To Alert Child Care Facilities Of Product Recalls

A new program in Kentucky will alert thousands of childcare facilities across the state about products that have been recalled. Called KY Kids Alert, the program's goal is to ensure that those responsible for caring for Kentucky's children will be aware of potentially lifesaving recall notices. It was announced by Kentucky's Attorney General, Jack Conway, last week.

Over 1,500 child care facilities have an e-mail address on file with the Commonwealth's Cabinet for Family Service. They will be signed up automatically to receive the alerts, which originate from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

In addition to the e-mails, notices will be mailed quarterly to more than 1,400 child care facilities that do not have an e-mail address on file.
