Honda recall concerns Louisville personal injury attorneys

Thought it was just Toyota that was having trouble with its vehicles and injuring people in Louisville, Kentucky? Think again. It looks like rival Japanese automaker Honda is having some recall troubles of its own. The New York Times is reporting that Honda Motor Co., the maker of Honda vehicles, said last Friday that well over half a million (646,000 to be exact) of its Fit/Jazz and City Models. The recall is worldwide and affects around 140,000 vehicles in the United States. Ironically, Japanese models do not appear to be affected and were not included in the recall.

The recall involves a very serious issue of risk of fire in the vehicles. According to Honda, a defective master switch can cause water to enter the power window switch, which in some instances can cause fires. So far, two cases of fire have been reported in the United States and a third was reported in South Africa. It is not known how many instances there were prior to the recall being issued by Honda.

As product liability attorney Brian D. Cook points out, “frequently, with defects leading to product recalls, many times injuries were caused prior to the recall and the victims had no idea that the danger was linked to a recalled product. This can often lead to an underreporting of the actual number of injuries and deaths due to dangerous and defective products. If you have questions about the Honda recall or any other dangerous products, please contact Brian or the other personal injury attorneys at Bahe Cook Cantely & Jones PLC.
