Two Amish Teens Killed By SUV Near Salem, IN

Noah Wengerd IV, age 19, and Menno Wengerd, age 7, of Salem, IN, were killed this last Saturday morning when a Ford Explorer, driven by Jetta Mull, age 31, also of Salem, IN, struck the horse-drawn buggy the teens were riding in. The accident happened at 9:00 a.m. about 12 miles east of Salem. Both the buggy and the SUV were traveling westbound on Indiana 160. The accident is still under investigation.

Auto Accident and Wrongful Death Attorney Brent T. Ackerson believes that this tragedy, which cost the lives of two young people, likely needs an accident re-constructionist to determine what exactly happened. “It was 9:00 a.m. in the morning, so viability should not have been an issue. This is an area where people know there is an Amish presence with horse-drawn buggies. The family deserves answers to why this happened when it did.”
