Todd Allen Suffers Injury In Recalled Toyota Camry
As we have been reporting here, Toyota recently announced recalls of 2.3 million vehicles due to reports of its accelerator pads sticking. On Saturday, Todd Allen of Louisville was hospitalized with serious injuries following a crash in his 2010 Toyota Camry, which is subject to the recall.
The local news is reporting that Allen was pulling into a parking spot when suddenly, and for no reason, the car took off at a high speed, ultimately crashing over an embankment.
The 2010 Camry is one of the eight models that Toyota recalled less than two weeks ago because a defective gas pedal could cause unintended acceleration. Toyota says the problem is rare but hasn't released any numbers about how often it's happened.
Allen was transported to University of Louisville Hospital and reportedly remains in intensive care with a possible spinal cord injury.

If news accounts are correct, Todd was most likely injured as a result of a defect in his vehicle that led to Toyota's mass recall, and not due to any fault of his own. It is extremely important that the vehicle be preserved and an accident reconstructionist and engineer be dispatched for an immediate investigation. If it is discovered that a defect in the vehicle caused this wreck, Toyota must be held accountable for all of the damages to Todd and his family."
