Product Liability: Toyota Cars Unsafe, Production Lines Halted
Shares of Toyota Stock fell by more than 4% today on the Japanese Stock Exchange after Toyota announced it would halt production of 8 vehicles due to safety concerns related to gas peddle/accelerator peddles sticking, which could cause the vehicles to quickly accelerate and cause crashes. The vehicle production halts are expected to last about a week, until the manufacturing lines can be retooled with new acceleration peddle systems/parts. Toyota has issued recalls of vehicles affected.
These types of problems could result in a vehicle suddenly and uncontrollably speeding up to danger speeds. In essence, the cars could go out of control and cause serious auto accidents. People who have been injured or killed by defective cars have a right to recovery for the injuries they have sustained.
