Texting While Driving Should Be Illegal Says Kentucky State Senator
Kentucky state senator Denise Harper Angel of Louisville is pushing for a law that makes texting while driving illegal. Senator Harper Angel is sponsoring one of three proposed bills that would ban texting and driving on Kentucky roads.
If passed, anyone who violates the law before November of next year will get a warning. After November of 2010, drivers caught texting will have to pay a $100 fine. It gets steeper if they cause an accident while texting.
Kentucky would be one of 19 other states that ban texting while driving. Harper Angel's bill is being considered for the 2010 session, which starts January 5.
