Meade County Car Wreck: Vernon Findlay Of Louisville Dies

Vernon Findlay, 47, of Louisville was killed on Thursday afternoon when he was hit by a car while working as a surveyor for a construction crew around the 2300 block of Old State Road in Meade County.

According to the local sheriff's department, a car sped over a hill near where the crew was working. The driver apparently saw the crew and slammed on his breaks. He lost control of his car, it went spinning out of control and hit Mr. Findlay.

Findley was stat-flighted to University of Louisville Hospital where he died later that evening. There is no word yet if the driver of the car will face charges.

She comments: "My heart goes out to Mr. Findlay's family and friends. It will be important for the family and their attorney to engage an accident reconstructionist in this case. Nothing will bring back Mr. Findlay, but if it is determined that the driver of the vehicle who hit him was negligent in not keeping control of his car, and that his negligence caused Mr. Findlay's death, the driver must be held accountable for damages."
