Kentucky Defective Products Attorney: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Refuses To Rule Out Defects In Toyotas Besides Gas Pedals And Floor Mats

This is an update to the Toyota recall we've been covering here on the Kentucky Injury Lawyer Blog. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration refuses to join Toyota in ruling out defects other than in floor mats and gas pedals in the cars at issue. There's rampant speculation that a glitch or bug in computer programs or software contained in the vehicle electronics could also play a role.

Media outlets have noted that complaints of sudden unintended acceleration in Toyota and Lexus models began to rise almost immediately after the adoption of the drive by wire system. In the drive by wire system a driver's foot is connected to the engine by electric motors, microprocessors and sensors rather than a more traditional steel cable link.

To date, Toyota refuses to admit any problems with this system.
