One Man Killed & Another Severely Injured In Car Crash On Gene Snyder Freeway

In the early morning hours on Monday, November 9, 2009, an accident on the Gene Snyder Freeway killed one man and sent another to the Hospital with severe injuries. The crash occurred on the Gene Snyder Freeway between the Bardstown Road exit and the Beulah Church Road exit. The car crash involved a Chevrolet Cobalt that ran into the rear of a Ford Explorer. The impact of the accident caused the Explorer to run off the road and flip several times. The Explorer had two occupants, the driver and a passenger. Both were ejected from the vehicle. One of the men in the Explorer was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was taken to University of Louisville Hospital. The police reports state that the driver of the Chevy Cobalt was not injured.

Auto accident attorney Brent T. Ackerson , a partner in the Firm of Bahe Cook Cantley & Jones PLC, who represents people injured and killed in auto accidents, believes that this is a case where an accident re-constructionists needs to be on scene quickly to determine what exactly happened. “This initially appears to be a case where the driver of the Chevy is at fault, but it’s important to be thorough in this case due to the death and the extent of the injuries to the passenger.” From a legal perspective, this is a matter where the deceased’s family and that of the injured passenger need to look at all the insurance policies available. The damages from the death, including lost lifetime earnings, and those from the injured passenger, being extensive medical bills and lost wages, are going to be extremely large. There is a good chance that there will not be enough insurance proceeds to cover the damages from this accident.
