Ky. Auto Accident Attorney: KSP Car Wreck Statistics

According to the Kentucky State Police, preliminary statistics indicate that thirteen people died in ten separate crashes on Kentucky roadways from Monday, November 16 through Sunday, November 22, 2009.

Eight of the crashes involved motor vehicles and 9 of the 11 victims were not wearing seat belts. Single-fatality crashes occurred in Boone, Boyd, Clay, Hancock, Madison and Owen counties.

A double-fatality motor vehicle crash occurred in Carroll county and the suspected use of alcohol was a factor in that crash.

A triple-fatality motor vehicle crash occurred in Boone county involving a package delivery truck and a pick up truck on U.S. 42 at Miller Owens Road.

Two pedestrian crashes occurred in Fleming and Jefferson county.

Through November 22, preliminary statistics* indicate that 687 people have lost their lives on Kentucky roadways during 2009. This is 33 less fatalities than reported for the same time period in 2008. There were 553 motor vehicle fatalities and 307 of those victims were not wearing seat belts. Thirty-five pedestrians and 5 bicyclists have been killed. Seventy-eight fatalities involved a motorcycle and fifteen fatalities involved an ATV. Sixty-nine crashes involved a commercial motor vehicle. A total of 145 fatalities have resulted from crashes involving the suspected use of alcohol.
