Hardin County Wreck Kills One, Another Charged With DUI
The local news is reporting yet another fatal crash ending in a DUI charge. Thomas Langley, 30, of Vine Grove, Kentucky was pronounced dead at Hardin Memorial Hospital after the SUV he was driving was struck by a truck driven by 24 year-old Michael Brunello of Rineyville, Kentucky. Langley is reported to have been ejected from his SUV after it left the road and overturned.
Vanessa Cantley, attorney and partner with Bahe Cook Cantley & Nefzger, has represented family members of dozens of individuals killed by drunk drivers. She comments: “My heart goes out to Mr. Langley’s family. This is such a tragedy and, sadly, a far too common occurrence. Drunk drivers must be held accountable, both criminally and civilly, when they injure or kill someone. In this case, the police are reporting that Mr. Langley was not wearing a seatbelt. It is extremely important for an accident reconstruction expert to be immediately dispatched to the scene to conduct an investigation and preserve evidence . In many instances, even though a person is ejected from a vehicle, an accident reconstruction can reveal that he or she was actually wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and the seatbelt either completely malfunctioned, or the nature of the impact caused it to fail.”
