A recurring theme here in Kentucky Injury Lawyer Blog is injuries caused by DUI accidents in the Commonwealth. Unfortunately, there is another to report.
A car accident occurred in Clinton County, Kentucky on US 127, 3 miles south of Albany, Kentucky. Steven Hughes, age 42 of Byrdstown, Tennessee, was driving a 2006 Pontiac when he left the roadway, crossed an embankment and struck a tree.
71 year old Betty Joe Williams, also of Byrdstown, Tennessee, who was a passenger in Mr. Hughes’s car, was stat-flighted to University of Kentucky with unreported injuries. Mr. Hughes was transported to Clinton County Hospital and admitted. He was cited for DUI.
According to Vanessa Cantley, a Kentucky lawyer who handles auto accident injury cases, “impaired drivers kill 13,000 people each year in the U.S. In Kentucky alone last year, there were approximately 6,000 alcohol-related car wrecks, resulting in over 2,200 injuries and 182 deaths.”
