Toyota Floor Mats Recall Update

Toyota%20Logo.jpg
We've been covering the Toyota floor mat recall and wanted to pass along some new information. A crash caused by an out of control 2007 Toyota Camry that resulted in the death of the driver of another vehicle smashed by the Toyota has recently come to light. The Camry accelerated to more than 100 mph under mysterious circumstances. The investigating police agency found unsecured pieces of the driver's side floor mat. It became suspected that the unsecured floor mat entrapped the throttle at the fully open position, and thus caused the wreck.

This case highlights the fact that the defect covered by the recall is not only harmful to those in the Toyota vehicle, but also others on the roadway. There are a myriad of issues that can arise in a matter like this. Even though it appears that driver error or recklessness caused a wreck, a defect in a vehicle involved should not be overlooked.
