Kentucky School Bus Crash Injures Several Children

FOX19 News is reporting that a preliminary investigation of a school bus crash Tuesday afternoon reveals the bus driver was at fault. This was, reportedly, confirmed by the Superintendent of Pendleton County Schools, who said that the driver of the school bus, Janet Elliott, 56, pulled out in front of the pick up truck on U.S. 27, causing the crash that injured somewhere between 10 and 14 students (depending on the report) along with the pick up truck driver.

The bus driver has undergone drug and alcohol testing but will not be charged with any crime or infraction in relation to the crash. The driver is a retired teacher from Pendleton County and a substitute bus driver.

The driver of the pickup truck, Odes Milner, 61, who was injured in the crash was treated and released from the hospital, but at least two of the students remain hospitalized, according to various reports. Two students were stat-flighted from the scene of the collision, but it is unknown whether these are the same children who remain hospitalized. Reportedly, one of of the hospitalized students was pregnant and went into labor following the crash. Another of the youngsters suffered a fractured vertebrae and remains in the hospital.
