Motorcycle Accident on Western Kentucky Parkway Injures Two

Two people were injured in a motorcycle accident on the Western Kentucky Parkway near Madisonville, Kentucky. While the extent of the injuries were not reported, at least one of the victims appears to have suffered severe injuries.
According to state police, Jeffery Embrey was riding west on the Western Kentucky Parkway, when he lost control of his motorcycle and ran off the right shoulder of the road. The motorcycle then struck a guardrail and ejected both riders.
Mr. Embrey was transported by EMS to the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, Kentucky. The passenger, Julia K. Collins, was air lifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. Stat-flighting an injury victim from an accident scene typically involves serious injuries.

This is the 11th consecutive year that there has been an increase in motorcycle crash deaths. Motorcyclist fatalities reached 5,290 in 2008, accounting for 14% of total motor vehicle accident fatalities.
The good news is the number of bikers injured in motorcycle crashes has decreased for the first time since 1998, declining 6.8%.
