Louisville, Kentucky Wreck On Watterson Expressway Claims Lives

Media outlets are reporting a tragic crash that occurred in the early morning hours today. According to Louisville Metro Police at around 3:00 a.m. a car traveling the wrong way on the Watterson Expressway (a.k.a. 1-264) collided head-on with another car killing both drivers. Neither vehicle had passengers.
Our sympathies and condolences go out to the friends and family of the deceased. These deaths unfortunately add to the increasing number of fatalities on Kentucky roadways as I have been reporting on here at kentuckyinjurylawyerblog.com.
A crash like this raises many questions, such as whether there are causes other than driver error. Other possible causes and issues could range from improper design of a roadway to improper signage and crashworthiness of the vehicles involved, just to name a few. It is imperative that a full investigation be conducted to ferret out any underlying causes and to preserve evidence.
Although the police are conducting an investigation to determine the cause, it is often important for someone involved in this type of accident (in this case the family of the deceased) to do their own investigation. Hiring a lawyer experienced in handling car wrecks can assure a victim of such a wreck, or the family, that their interests and rights are being protected. An experienced lawyer will know what to do in conducting an investigation to preserve evidence and determine the cause including uncovering any underlying factors at play that are not readily apparent.
