Kentucky Injury Law Update: Kentucky Car And Truck Accident Statistics For September 27 Through October 3, 2009
I promise at some point soon I'm going to get caught up on these. I'm also going to look into presenting the information in some different formats. Pie charts and graphs anyone? Maybe the different formats will allow us to identify trends and reasons for them.
Kentucky State Police data indicate that a total of 2,593 motor vehicle collisions occurred statewide for this week, down from 3,052 the prior week. 487 of those wrecks resulted in someone injured or killed down from 565 the week before. A total of 11 people were killed and another 673 injured as a result of these accidents, up from 10 and down from 810, respectively.
Jefferson County accounted for 559 of the total accidents (691 the week before), 89 of which resulted in an injury (down from 134 the prior week). There was 1 fatality (up from none the prior week). 128 total injuries resulted from the Jefferson County wrecks (down from 208 a week ago).
The trend for many of these statistics took a downward turn for this particular week. As I mentioned above, I continue to be interested in what factors are driving these numbers and hope to delve deeper into this, find out and report it.
For those who were injured and/or lost their mode of transportation, their lives can easily be turned upside down and become very stressful, particularly if they cannot work while recovering. And to top it off, now they get to deal with an insurance company or two.
When dealing with this situation, an experienced attorney can be very helpful in ensuring that an injured person's rights are protected and all bases that need to be covered are getting covered. From making sure that medical expenses are getting paid, lost wages are being reimbursed to seeing to it that evidence is properly preserved and more, a lawyer can help ease the burden and allow an injury victim to recover without the stress of dealing with all the issues that pop up.
