Kentucky Injury Law Update: Kentucky Car And Truck Accident Statistics For September 20 Through September 26, 2009

I've been trying to provide content on a periodic basis on this subject, and I'm a few weeks behind. I'll try to get caught up in the coming days. I continue to think it is interesting to look at this data and these statistics.

Kentucky State Police data indicate that a total of 3,052 motor vehicle collisions occurred statewide for this week, up from 2,230 the prior week. 565 of those wrecks resulted in someone injured or killed up from 406 the week before. 10 people were killed and another 810 injured as a result of these accidents, down from 12 and up from 582, respectively.

Jefferson County accounted for 691 of the total accidents (493 the week before), 134 of which resulted in an injury (up from 105 the prior week). There were no fatalities. 208 total injuries resulted from the Jefferson County wrecks (up from 157 a week ago).

The trend for many of these statistics continues to be disturbingly upward. It begs the question of why and what factors are at force.

For those who were injured and/or lost their mode of transportation, their lives can easily be turned upside down and become very stressful, particularly if they cannot work while recovering. And to top it off, now they get to deal with an insurance company or two.

When dealing with this situation, an experienced attorney can be very helpful in ensuring that an injured person's rights are protected and all bases that need to be covered are getting covered. From making sure that medical expenses are getting paid, lost wages are being reimbursed to seeing to it that evidence is properly preserved and more, a lawyer can help ease the burden and allow an injury victim to recover without the stress of dealing with all the issues that pop up.
