Kentucky Car Wreck Kills Taylorsville Man in Mt. Washington

Michael Workman, of Taylorsville, Ky., died in an early morning car wreck on Sunday in Mount Washington.

Thee four car wreck happened about 1 a.m. on U.S. 31E. According to news reports, the car wreck happened when a car driven by Kevin Sullivan, 22, of Mount Washington, hit a northbound car driven by Joseph Smith, 40, of Taylorsville.

Sullivan's vehicle then hit Workman's northbound car and a fourth car hit Workman's car in the rear.

Bahe Cook Cantley & Jones wrongful death attorney Larry Jones says, "While it isn't exactly clear from news reports, this appears as though it may have been a crossover wreck. Crossover wrecks cause numerous deaths and serious injuries every year. In fact, they are so likely to happen that I think it is safest to drive in the far right hand lane on four lane roads. Unfortunately, in a two lane road situation, you are left to the mercy of the driver coming at you."

Jones also says, "The incidence of crossover wrecks on the highways is also extraordinary. I've been involved in numerous crossover cases. Recently, states have begun installing cable barriers in the medians. Based upon my experience, and knowledge of the statistics, cable barriers do indeed save lives --and they are cheaper to install. Please encourage your local legislators to push for cable barriers in your area. The life you save might just be your own."
